Job Description

We are looking for a reliable Quality amp; HSE Manager to ensure everyone in the company complies with quality amp; health and safety laws, policies, and procedures.

You will champion implementing the established company policies and systems encompassing Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment across all elements of service delivery channels within the country of operations, ensuring compliance with the contract and all applicable health and safety legislation, approved standard operating procedures, and company policies and processes. Lead the Goal Zero initiative and reinforce our safety culture, based on the fundamental belief that all accidents are preventable. Conduct regular safety inspections to identify potential hazards in the workplace, including unsafe working conditions or equipment failure. You will also be responsible for establishing policies that will create and maintain a safe workplace.

As a QHSE Manager, you must have excellent attention to detail to identify hazards. You will also be able to discover opportunities for improving conditions and execute various safety programs. The ability to communicate guidelines to a multidisciplinary workforce is essential. The goal is to ensure the workplace meets all legal expectations and actively supports occupational health and safety.

Key Responsibilities would include:

  • Develop and lead the QHSE operation and promotion of an integrated ISO management system, encompassing a proactive improvement culture in quality, environmental and health and safety across the country of operations. Utilizing the company management system policies and procedures, including risk assessment, EIA, accident prevention, health initiatives, and acknowledged personal responsibility.
  • Facilitate the maintenance and management of environmental, health, safety and well-being through systems, audits/ inspections and the establishment of high standards and expectations on employees of service excellence performance and safety awareness behaviors.
  • Maintain an integrated audit program for Quality, Health amp; Safety, and Environment standards to ensure that all projects/ sites are regularly audited as per the company’s established audit cycle.
  • Report on the performance of the projects/ units on the audits/ inspections during review meetings, and use this as a forum to address aspects that need correction (if any) or any improvements.
  • Advise on matters relating to the Environment and Health and Safety at work including the obligations and responsibilities of managers and employees; and provide comprehensive and practical advice to managers on best practice.
  • In coordination with the HR Department (Learning amp; Development), assist in the delivery of comprehensive operational technical training to promote, develop, and sustain a positive Health and Safety awareness culture throughout the business operations.
  • Provide appropriate accident investigation methodology to ensure personal management accountability and improve risk management, including monitoring and interpretation of statistical data and formulate into a monthly report.
  • Management of client relationships and expectations relevant to the job role by maintaining formal and informal communications with clients, Group QHSE Director, sub-contractors and customers.
  • Ensures compliance to all company/contract, documentation, audits, and administration procedures are carried out to the company standards.
  • Legislative compliance, ensuring that all HSE aspects of the business are conducted in accordance with all relevant statutory requirements and standard operating procedures.
  • Implement ‘Performance Management the GCCS Way’ by setting KPl's for all direct reports, conduct regular reviews, identify training requirements and provide a coaching, mentoring and supportive role.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have/ be:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, or related discipline preferred.
  • Professional qualifications that demonstrate professional development in QHSE management
  • Certificate level in environmental qualification interval auditor in an ISO standard 9001/14001/45001
  • Candidates with Occupational Health amp; Safety Qualification. IOSH Or NEBOSH Diploma will be preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years total relevant work experience, of which at least 3 years should be in a managerial capacity in engineering/construction/facilities management.
  • QHSE Auditing skills
  • Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines
  • Ability in producing reports and developing relevant policies
  • Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
  • Excellent organizational and motivational skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail and observ
