Job Description

We are looking for an experienced MEP (Mechanical Electrical Plumbing) Manager to be based in our Ivory Coast project and manage the MEP component in our current projects. The MEP Manager will be fully responsible for successfully managing, executing, completing, and handing over multiple MEP components in our projects related to Hospitals and Warehouses.

Your Key Responsibilities would include:

  • Estimate and scope MEP trades during pre-construction
  • Review Contract Documents, making suggestions/modifications as they relate to the MEP trades
  • Manage and lead MEP subcontractors throughout the duration of the project
  • Review and approve material and equipment for MEP systems prior to installation
  • Monitor the installation and start-up of MEP systems and commissioning of the project
  • Coordinate activities, materials procurement, and other related activities with the Project Manager and Field Staff
  • Communicate progress and prepare appropriate reports as needed
  • Supervise, develop and mentor project staff, if applicable
  • Take overall responsibility for the performance of all MEP trades
  • Supervise review and coordination of submittals and shop drawings
  • Responsible for directly managing the safety, quality, and conformance of all MEP scope on the construction project.
  • Supports preconstruction activities to ensure consistency with other projects.
  • Ensures all field installations are in review and Value Engineering into the design process.
  • Validates that drawings and specifications accurately reflect the desired construction quality and scope, in accordance with the design.
  • Ensures all Contractors and Suppliers are following safety best practices.
  • Ensures all equipment is specified to be available, and constructible.
  • Manages equipment quality including review of Specifications, bid analysis, PO's, Submittals, FWT, freight/logistics, care/custody, protection, installation, startup, and commissioning.
  • Establishes a positive working relationship with the project design and construction teams, both internal and external to the client organization.
  • Utilizes knowledge of operational best practices and the owner's project requirements to review the project documentation for potential pitfalls and opportunities for improvement.
  • Attends construction and commissioning meetings to keep abreast of project developments, develop a detailed understanding of the facility design and operation, and track program changes and their potential impact.
  • Observes key installation and test procedures to ensure conformance with project goals and to gather information for operational documentation and training.
  • Performs periodic site inspections and reports any construction issues uncovered or conditions that could affect the operational reliability of the facility. This includes meeting participation to ensure smooth coordination and tracking of issue resolution.
  • Provides regular reports on project progress and issues.

Requirements

To be considered for the role, you must have/ be:

  • Good understanding of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and mid-low-voltage systems
  • General understanding of Building Codes, Mechanical Codes, Electrical Codes, and Plumbing Codes as they relate to the construction of the project
  • Experienced dealing with MEP subcontracts and subcontractors
  • Background in MEP Construction and knowledge of MEP Construction means and methods.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience to meet requisite skill level, usually obtained with 15 years of related work experience.
  • Requires a minimum total of 10+ years of experience leading Electrical construction (preferably in warehouses or the healthcare sector)
  • Comprehension of critical-path schedule development, management of trade performance and productivity.
  • Familiarity with construction sites and hazards and ability to navigate project sites safely
  • Proficient with computers including the utilization of AutoCAD and Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Able to work in a team environment. Even-tempered and able to work through conflict with others.
  • Flexible and willing to consider others' ideas.
  • Manages stress and/or fast pace effectively.
  • Expert knowledge of critical facility operational requirements.
  • Strong understanding of the commissioning process and requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English is necessary, French is an advantage).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
